Description
You’re invited: Virtual interactive screening of Deep Down
Wednesday, December 1, 5:00pm PST / 8:00pm EST
Deep Down's Ustream Channel & the Virtual Mine
Join us for a grand multimedia experiment -- an interactive screening of the documentary film Deep Down on our Ustream channel followed by a live panel discussion with the filmmakers on Ustream and simultaneously in the Virtual Mine in Second Life. This exciting multimedia event will bring people across the globe together virtually to discuss Deep Down and the Virtual Mine with the filmmakers and game creators just after Deep Down finishes a national tour and PBS broadcast on Independent Lens. While the Second Life panel will stream into Ustream, the Ustream audience chat will also be visible in Second Life to the Virtual Mine audience, so feedback and discussion will flow both directions. There are two ways to participate:
- Watch the film in its entirety and participate in the discussion via chat through Deep Down's Ustream channel, where participation is not limited and anyone may attend. To ask questions or chat with us, you can log in using your your Ustream, Facebook, Google, Yahoo, or OpenID username.

After a complete screening of Deep Down, we'll stream a panel discussion live on Ustream from the Virtual Mine, and continue the chat with the streaming audience.
or - Join us as your Second Life avatar for the screening and discussion in our Virtual Mine in Second Life. (Learn more about the Virtual Mine here.) Please RSVP here if you wish to join the screening and discussion in the Virtual Mine. Jump into our event space in the Virtual Mine here: secondlife://Virtual%20Mine/230/74/27.
Panel moderator:
Bernhard Drax, Journalist (Draxtor Depres in Second Life)
Panelists:
Jen Gilomen and Sally Rubin, creators of Deep Down and the Virtual Mine (Girl Tenk and Tracks Elcano in Second Life)
Dustin White, activist and Second Life participant from the West Virginia coal fields
We look forward to "chatting" with you and hearing your feedback on the film.
